Graduate Program

Race and Ethnicity in a US and Global Context

The program offers students the opportunity to study race and ethnicity in the US and in the global context. Faculty in the program specialize in the ethnic and racial aspects of diverse sub-fields of Sociology, including Environmental Sociology, Families, Gender, Health, Migration, Political Sociology, Social Demography, Sociology of Development, Stratification, Urban Sociology, and Sport.

Beyond studying race and ethnicity in the US context, the program has a strong international orientation and it offers expertise in different regions around the world, including Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East.

Students in the program are encouraged to develop academic contacts with other units in the university. Faculty collaborate regularly with graduate and undergraduate students on research projects. Students should feel tree to contact individual faculty members to discuss options for getting involved in particular research projects.
